A highly productive, automatic double-column band saw with versatile material feeding.

  • The saw is designed for direct cutting of materials.
  • The operating principle of the saw is FVC = feed – cut – main clamp. The FVC concept allows for the cutting of individual bars and bundles in an automatic cycle with minimal waste.
  • The saw is intended for mass production in industrial facilities, and its robust structure allows for cutting a wide range of materials, including stainless steels and tool steels.
  • The saw is designed for cutting straight steel bars.

Control system

  • The machine is equipped with a programmable PLC controller MITSUBISHI FX5U-32M. The saw blade operation and the feed device movement are fully controlled by MITSUBISHI technology.
  • The color touchscreen allows easy communication with the user. The display shows, among other things, blade speed, feed rate, and the status of individual functions.
  • The screen size is 7” (92 × 153 mm).
  • The saw has two operating modes:

SEMIAUTOMATIC (MANUAL) MODE:

The saw cuts the material immediately in semiautomatic mode. The user guides the material to the cutting area using the feed device. The movement of the feed device is done with manual buttons or GTO function. In GTO function, the user inputs the desired position of the feed device, and pressing the START GTO button moves the feed device to that position.

AUTOMATIC MODE:

The feed device feeds the pieces to be cut according to the set program. The user defines the cutting program, which the saw executes automatically. The user can save up to 100 programs. One program includes complete cutting settings: blade speed, cutting height, piece length, and number of cuts. Length and quantity can be defined for 20 lines. The saw automatically feeds different defined lengths.

  • The cutting feed adjustment is implemented by a system controlled by a servo motor and choke valve hydraulics, which allows for very precise feeding. The user inputs the desired feed rate (mm/min) into the program, and the band saw executes it accurately.
  • RZP-2: adjustment of cutting areas. The system allows for the setting of optimal transition speed (movement to cutting) and blade speed for five different areas based on the blade's position.
  • ARP: automatic cutting feed adjustment based on the material's cutting resistance or blade dulling.
  • BIMETAL mode: suitable for optimal feed adjustment when cutting profiles with bimetal blades. The feed is greater when cutting the sides of the profile and automatically decreases when the blade reaches full material.
  • CARBIDE mode: suitable for cutting solid materials. When the blade is worn, the feed is reduced, but the reaction time is slower than in BIMETAL mode.
  • The control panel is securely located in the console and includes a digital display and a high-quality membrane keyboard. The keyboard controls the basic movements of the saw and starts the work cycle. The panel also has an emergency stop button.
  • Safety module with self-diagnostics.
  • 24 V control.
  • Two basic systems of the automatic adjustment system (ASR): ARP and RZP-2. ARP has two modes: BIMETAL and CARBIDE.

Structure

  • The band saw is structurally very robust to withstand extreme stresses in production. All components are designed to minimize vibrations and maximize cutting power.
  • Blade speed range 20–100 m/min.
  • The sawing arm and columns are positioned close to the clamp, which reduces vibration and improves cutting efficiency.
  • The arm is a sturdy welded structure that ensures rigidity and cutting accuracy.
  • The arm moves on two columns supported by a four-row linear guide.
  • The movement of the arm is powered by a hydraulic cylinder.
  • The blade is guided by sturdy cast iron wheels.
  • The sensor and magnetic tape measure the position of the arm above the material. The upper and lower positions are determined by the control system, and the lower position can also be set with a limit switch.
  • The main clamp is a sturdy steel welded structure.
  • The movement of the jaws of the main clamp during the long stroke occurs via a hydraulic cylinder in the blade guide, which also allows for reliable clamping of small bars.
  • Clamping pressure adjustment valve and pressure gauge.
  • The extremely sturdy feeding device moves on a ball screw, two hardened rods, and Teflon bushings.
  • The floating movement of the feeding device allows for slight lateral movement and compensates for material irregularities.
  • The feeding device transfers the material according to the set value for the cutting area. Positioning is done using an electromagnetic sensor and magnetic tape, and micro-feeding ensures precise positioning.
  • The optical sensor detects the material in the feeding device. When the material runs out, the saw cuts the remaining bar and waits for a new one.
  • The roller conveyor supports the material along its entire length.
  • The feeding clamp is a sturdy steel welded structure. The movement of the jaws occurs on a linear guide with hydraulic cylinders.
  • GTO function (go to position).
  • Two feeding modes:
    • NORMAL: input between the zero point and the set length.
    • INCREMENTAL: input occurs at the limit point and the material is fed in stages.
  • CMU mode: opening the cutting area from the feed side for non-contact movement of the blade, especially when using carbide blades.
  • Blade operation through a worm gear and a three-phase motor, speed adjustable with a frequency converter.
  • External fan for motor cooling and motor thermal protection.
  • Blade control with carbide plates, bearings, and cast iron wheels, with vibration dampers on top.
  • The blade tilt angle relative to the press level is 7°, which improves performance and blade lifespan.
  • The blade guide is adjustable across the entire working area.
  • Protective casing for moving parts and chips.
  • Hydraulic blade tensioning and automatic tension monitoring with a pressure sensor.
  • Blade cleaning brush.
  • Sturdy frame with a chip tray and chip conveyor.
  • Cooling system for cutting fluid (LocLine).
  • LED work light.
