Welding wires
In MIG/MAG welding, the filler wire is fed through the welding torch, while shielding gas protects the weld pool from the effects of the surrounding air.
The method is well suited for productive and repeatable welding, both manually and in automated and robotic welding applications.
TIG rods, on the other hand, are suitable for demanding applications where weld quality, control, and finish are especially important.
TIG welding is used, for example, in the welding of pipelines, food industry equipment, pressure vessels, aerospace components, and thin materials.
Toolpoint Oy’s welding wire range consists of MIG/MAG solid wires, TIG rods, and welding wires for various material groups, such as unalloyed steel, stainless steel, aluminum, so-called superaustenitic steels, non-ferrous metals, wear protection, and corrosion protection.
Stick electrodes
Stick welding, also known as MMA/SMAW welding. In the welding process, the arc burns between the coated electrode and the base material. The method is well suited for applications such as steel structures, repair welding, installation work, and sites where welding conditions may vary.
Toolpoint Oy’s range includes stick electrodes for a wide variety of materials and applications, such as unalloyed steels, low-alloy steels, so-called superaustenitic steels, and stainless steels. The range also includes solutions for wear resistance, corrosion protection, and special applications.
Flux-cored wires and submerged arc welding consumables
Flux-cored wires are suitable for efficient and productive welding where good weldability, consistent weld quality, and high productivity are required.
The voestalpine Böhler Welding range includes both gas-shielded flux-cored wires, such as rutile and metal-cored wires, seamless flux-cored wires, and so-called self-shielded flux-cored wires.
Flux-cored wires are available for, among others, unalloyed steels, low-alloy steels, so-called superaustenitic steels, dissimilar joints, wear protection, and corrosion protection.
Böhler Welding’s range of self-shielded flux-cored wires includes options for unalloyed steels and wear protection applications, among others.
The Böhler Welding range also includes submerged arc welding consumables (SAW), such as submerged arc flux-cored wires as well as welding fluxes / wire-flux combinations. Submerged arc welding is especially suitable for the needs of heavy industry, pressure vessels, pipe mills, offshore structures, wind turbine towers, and other demanding industrial fabrication.
Cladding, protection and special consumables
The welding consumables range also includes special products for cladding, wear protection, corrosion protection and demanding industrial applications. These include, for example, strip cladding products, metal powders, arc spraying flux-cored wires and ceramic backing materials.

Choosing the right welding consumable
The appropriate welding consumable is selected primarily based on the base material to be welded, the welding process, the operating conditions and the required properties. In practice, the goal is that the consumable can withstand at least the same load, environment and temperature as the structure to be welded. The right consumable ensures the strength, corrosion resistance and good quality of the weld.
